Loagan Bunut

The largest natural lake in Sarawak.


Loagan Bunut National Park is located at Tinjar river a major tributary (a branch that flows into the main stream) of the Baram district and contains Sarawak's largest natural lake, called "Loagan Bunut" by the local inhabitants. Extraordinary lake with water level that fluctuates throughout the year. Loagan Bunut is connected via narrow channel with Baram river and Tinjar river, as the water level in the Tinjar and Baram rivers drop sufficiently, the flow in the Bunut river is reversed and the lake begin to drain in between Feb and May.

How to get to Loagan Bunut?
In Miri city, take an express boat from Kuala Baram to Marudi town (approximately 3 hours), from Marudi town take an express boat to Tinjar river and you will reach Loagan Bunut. Marudi town is the intersection point between Miri and Mulu National Park or Loagan Bunut for land travel. It is recommended that to take a day rest or futher preparation for land tour at Marudi town. For more travel package, please consult your travel agency.
